WANTED:

Someone to potty train my twin girls. They will be 3 in February. Must be enthusiastic, energetic, and self-motivated. Must like children. Experience preferred. Payment will be made upon completion of the potty training process. Very sweet girls. Must meet them before saying, "No." :)

So, of course, I'm talking about my girls. If I really knew of someone who could help potty train my girls in about a week, I really would be tempted to pay them to do it. Unfortunately, I'm not joking. :(
Hannah and Brooklyn will be turning 3 in about a month, and they have NO desire to be potty trained. They are totally fine wearing their diapers. If they have a wet or dirty diaper, they just let me know they want to be changed. Greg and I ask them if they want to go on the potty quite a bit, but they always tell us no. We made a major potty training attempt about a month ago, but it was a disaster. After a full day, the girls were crying and screaming when we went to put them on the potty. It was a total nightmare, so we decided to give them a break.

The most frustrating part is that I KNOW that they are smart enough to do it, but they're very headstrong and fighting them on the issue does absolutely no good. I guess that they're just not emotionally ready yet, but that doesn't quite take away all my frustration. :(

So, what do we do from here? We have been told by numerous people that when a kid is ready, potty training is super easy. The bad thing is that I don't see them being "ready" anytime in the near future. They just don't care.
So, I'm asking for your help. Please let me know whether I should wait, or if I should just try "forcing" them again. I just don't know what to do. I've never done the potty training thing before because Abbey went to transplant before we could get potty training really under way. And, of course, this time is totally different because I have two to potty train. (LOL) Any advice or encouragement would be greatly appreciated.

aaggh - I'm right with you...just bought another box of diapers yesterday, but promised myself it would be the last - hopefully!!! I am going to go get those plastic liners to put over that thicker underwear so Wyatt's not wetting all his clothes when he does have an accident - just try to keep it contained...I'm gearing up!! Good luck to you, too!

What worked with my daughter is I let her pick out her new underware (Hannah montana, strawberry shortcake, ect)from the store and a bag of treats. Then every 1 hour I would put her on the toilet and give her a treat. If she would pee in her undes I would make her wash them but If she pooped in them I would make her throw them away and she would get so mad. so she was potty trained in 4 days try that. All kids are different. It might take a little bit.

Yeah that is no fun, especially when you have two of them. I don't have much experience in this but I would say wait. That is if you can handle changing more diapers:) We did the naked thing with Kambri. Its a little cold for that right now, but I just had her be naked for a day or two and she just went on the potty. Good luck I feel for ya!!!

I'm with you on the twin thing. One of my twins decided to potty train herself when we were in disneyland two years ago,i decided i was going to try and do it when we got home but in the hotel she kept saying i need to go potty and she did. I used the whole bride method i put hershy kisses in a jar on a shelf in the bathroom & everytime they went they got one, well it worked for one of them and the other one just wanted to do things her way. SLOWLY! But it happened, so good luck. P.S.I heard that you can put a little portable potty just like in the family room and let them sit on it to watch tv and get used to the potty

I really am no help with the potty training thing! Kobe was the same way...did not have any desire to be potty trained. He was nearly 4 when it finally just clicked! I had tried everything and was so frustrated! Then Trey, at 20 mos. was potty trained in one day! It will happen though!! Your girls are so darling! Let me know if you just need a break or something...or a Diet Coke...I'm here!

I did the bribe thing with Taggert & funny thing, I don't remember what I did with Liza. I think she was a little more hard headed so I waited until she was interested. I just kept telling her what friends of hers went on the potty & that seemed to help. Good Luck!

hi! just stumbled upon your blog and couldn't help putting in my two cents...
very stressful time, btw. probably more for parents than the kids. it is NOT fun, no way.
i taught preschool for a few years and the sticker charts worked well for us, at home and at school. while at school i would take them to 'potty' about every hour or two and just let them sit there. if no potty was needed, they got up and went about their way. if they went potty, they got to add a sticker to their chart. i would send the charts home at the end of each week and parents could 'reward' their child. most got to go pick out a toy from the dollar store! (and the cute panties work too, they don't want to get dora wet...) good luck!
