My Bluetooth Rant

Okay, you all know what I'm talking about. And, I know, the Bluetooth isn't quite as conspicuous as the one pictured here, but you get the idea.

Bluetooths (or is it BlueTEETH?) are really starting to get on my nerves. I can see where they could be totally useful: in the car, while doing housework, or while working on your computer. However, people who have them don't need to wear them 24/7. I get so tired of seeing people walking around the mall or Wal-Mart wearing them, with no intention of actually using them. Are they really SO busy that it's inconvenient to take their phones out and flip them open to take a call in public? Plus, you can never tell whether these people wearing them are actually talking to you or to the little thing in their ear. And, it's getting harder and harder for me to laugh at the lone lady walking down the cereal aisle talking to herself because, when she turns around, she's wearing a Bluetooth. Is it a status symbol, or are these people just really important?

So, for those of us who don't own a Bluetooth, I have a solution. We can walk around like the guy pictured here:

And, for those of you who do have a Bluetooth, use it wisely. Otherwise, I'll be laughing at you in public. :)

Easter fun!

Well, we had a great Easter. Hannah and Brooklyn had a blast. We had to get up super early and do the egg hunt because our church is at 9 AM, and I had to be there at 8:15 for choir practice. The girls had a great time finding eggs at home. It was a much better experience than Syracuse's egg hunt, but that goes without saying. They got a Dora tent for Easter, so they were saying, "Dora! Boots!" as soon as they saw it. It's amazing how much they like such a simple thing.

The girls running out to see their Easter surprises

They were so cute when they were hunting for eggs. Greg was holding their baskets for them and they would say, "Thank you, Daddy," every time they put an egg in. They also had a good time at both grandparents' houses. They found more eggs and candy, and loved every minute of it. Here are a couple more pics:

The Great Easter Egg Debacle

Or, as some would call it, the Easter egg hunt. Oh boy! We took our girls to the annual Easter egg hunt in Syracuse. We thought it would be fun. Picture this: We get to the park, find the 2-3 year old area, get a spot, and wait for the fire engine's siren to roar. Before the hunt, the girls were okay. Here are a couple pics:

So, this was before the Easter egg hunt. They look pretty happy, right? They were okay with the fact that it was only about 35 degrees outside and they had to wear their winter coats. As we were waiting for the fun to begin, things were fairly calm around us. Sound the sirens. Begin complete pandemonium! I kid you not, there were parents running out with their little 2 and 3 year olds, and shoving eggs into their buckets and baskets. I'm sorry, but after only about 3 to 4 minutes of egg hunting, a 2 year old could not completely FILL an entire bucket. I was really annoyed because those parents were taking the fun away from the kids. And for what? A few measly pieces of bubble gum. Duh!

Okay, so we got a few eggs. No big deal. But, by the end, poor Hannah was done. Her hands were so cold that they were hurting her. She was so upset, and we felt so badly for her. Of course, I did take the time to take a picture of her in the car. Poor Hannah.

Oh, and in case any of you were wondering, those are new sunglasses I was wearing. Yay!

Have a Happy Easter, everyone! Happy egg hunting, too. Greg and I have decided to make it up to our girls with our own Easter egg hunt at home.

Baby Alive Wets and Giggles!

Oh my gosh! This was the funniest commercial advertising a doll I have ever seen. I saw it today while the TV was on some kids' show. It's called Baby Alive Wets and Giggles. It's freaking hilarious!!

Isn't that the funniest evah?! And, as a side note, when it's on TV, there is a disclaimer at the bottom of the screen that says "Boy doll is anatomically correct." (LOL) Just thought I'd share.

So, we went to Mandee and Jamie's last night. Just the girls and I went because Greg left yesterday for Vegas. He'll be back tonight. So, Mandee and I went to Hobby Lobby and bought some flowers and rhinestone center to make some hair clips. My girls' Easter dresses are white with black polka dots, so the top clips are for Easter. The others are just pink and brown. They are super easy to make, and way cheaper than buying them. We only made a couple each because we didn't have a lot of time, but we plan on making more. Here is a picture of them:

We ate dinner at Mandee and Jamie's last night. We made homemade pizzas. Yummy! Thanks for dinner, guys. Afterward, the girls all played together and had a great time. I have to say that Brooklyn loves Haden, who is almost 3 months old. If he cries, she goes over and pats and rubs his head and says, "It's okay." She loves to go over and see him and talk to him. She is such a loving little kid.

And, a note to all you LOST fans: Happy viewing tonight!! I'll be watching for sure! I can't wait!

I got a new tooth!!

I'm not kidding. When I say, "I," I actually mean ME. Remember that tiny freak of a wisdom tooth I told you about? Well, it came through a couple days ago. Oh, I thought I was done teething, but I was wrong. I don't even know if you could call it a tooth. I swear, it's smaller than Hannah and Brooklyn's molars. (LOL) I showed it to Greg today, and he said, "Wow. That will really help you chew a steak." We were laughing because it's some useless, little dinky thing. Be jealous. Be very jealous.

In other news, I got my living room accent walls painted! Here is a before picture:

Here are a couple of after photos:

I did it all myself, with the exception of the area right at the top of the vault. My mom came over and helped me do that so no one had to stand on a ladder alone. Greg was totally surprised. Now, we've decided that we need to paint the rest of the living room and kitchen area. Greg has this crazy idea that I should do it the next time he goes out of town. (Hahahahaha! Like that's gonna happen!) But, I think we will paint the rest soon.

Dear Hannah and Brooklyn,

Naps in the car do NOT count as naps for the afternoon. I'm sorry if I burst your bubbles. When you fall asleep in the car on the way home from Avery and Mandee's, like you did today, you are supposed to stay asleep when I take you in the house. That's right. When I put you down for a nap, you are not supposed to start talking to your sister and giggling and playing. You are still little and still need your naps, and Mommy needs you to take your naps, too. I will let it slide this time, but I would appreciate it if you would take your naps. I have enclosed these pictures of you sleeping in case you don't know what I'm talking about. I love you.
Love,
Mommy

So, the girls and I went to Mandee's house today. Hannah and Brooklyn played with Avery and had a great time. We made the girls some chicken nuggets, green beans and cottage cheese for lunch. We gave each of the girls 2 nuggets to start. My girls were pigging out like I hadn't fed them for a couple days. (lol) They both kept asking for more chicken and more beans. I was laughing so hard. Mandee, I promise I really do feed my girls. I'm looking forward to the warmer weather so we can take the kids to a park to play and have a picnic.

And, I have some good news!! Greg is coming home on Friday!! I pick him up from the airport at 10:35 on Friday morning! We are so excited to have Daddy coming home. The girls will be so happy. The whole time Greg's been gone, they'll ask me where Daddy is. I keep telling them that he's at work. They must think that he lives there now.

I LOVE Easter candy!!

I love, love, LOVE Easter candy! It's the best candy of the entire year! One of my favorites, Cadbury Mini Eggs, are pictured at the left. In fact, I'm eating some right now. Yum!! I like candy in general, but Easter candy is always so much more appealing, and tastes so much better than it does the rest of the year. Maybe it's the pretty pastel colors. Maybe it's the large variety. Or maybe it's just the prospect that Spring is right around the corner. At any rate, it's my favorite. Here is a list of my favorite Easter candy (in no particular order): Cadbury Mini Eggs, Cadbury Eggs, Snickers Eggs, Reese's Peanut Butter Eggs, Hershey's Eggs, Robin Eggs (the small ones), Hershey's milk chocolate eggs (in the foil wrappers), Nestle Crunch Eggs, and Butterfinger Eggs. Boy, it sounds like I'm on the Atkin's Diet at Easter! (lol)
On another note, I think I'm teething. (hehehehehe) I'm serious. I have never had any wisdom teeth. (Yeah, I know, you thought I was gonna say wisdom.) Well, the last couple times I've had x-rays at the dentist, they've told me I have this microdontia of a wisdom tooth. It's clear in the back on the left. It's so tiny that they said it won't ever have to be pulled or anything, but that it may come down. Well, my gums are swollen in the back, and it hurts to chew on my left side. I swear, I thought this teething business ended when I stopped drooling. Oh well! (lol)
The girls and I went to Home Depot today. I am planning to paint a couple walls in my living room. In fact, I'm going to try and get it done before Greg gets home. Shhhh, don't tell him. I'm going to do a couple accent walls in dark brown. I think it will look nice. I'll take some before and after pics to show you all.
Well, that's it for now. Go and get yourself some Easter candy before I buy it all!

I need VaPOOrize!!

Yeah, I totally do. I just spent about 20 minutes outside cleaning up all of Dora's winter turds. Yuck! I was secretly hoping that once the snow melted, the turds would magically disintegrate. But, alas, they did not. So, for those of you who have dogs and your snow hasn't melted yet, you have a wonderous surprise waiting for you. (lol)

Then, to top it off, I came inside from doing "Poop Patrol" and had two poopy diapers to change. What a crappy day. (Yes, that pun was intended.)

A couple days ago, I decided that I need to start taking more pictures of the girls. So, I thought I'd share a couple.

Here is Hannah being a drama queen and NOT wanting her picture taken.

Here is Brooklyn trying to be nice about my being in the way of her watching "Monsters, Inc."

Here are both girls watching a movie together.

So, while we're on the subject of pigtails, I have a question. Does anyone know of some really good elastics that will hold pigtails really well? I just use the tiny plastic ones, but I always end up having to re-do their hair by the end of the day. Anyone?

And, happy daylight savings to everyone! The first couple days are a little rough, but we have more daylight now!

Yoplait is the best!

I love Yoplait yogurt. In fact, it's really the only kind I like. And, my girls love yogurt. When I give it to them for breakfast, that's pretty much all they eat. I don't even buy the little containers anymore. Nope. I buy the mega size containers because we go through it so quickly. Well, this morning, I gave them some strawberry yoplait in their little bowls. Brooklyn calls it "yogurt" and Hannah calls it "ogurt." (lol) Hannah had finished her first helping and she said, "More please." Then, Brooklyn pipes in with, "What?! More yogurt?!" What a funny kid!

Tonight, I went on a date with Greg's parents, sister, and BIL. Too bad Greg's out of town. He missed out. Sorry, Greg. We went and saw the movie "The Bucket List" with Morgan Freeman and Jack Nicholson. I really liked it. Afterward, we went to the OG (Olive Garden) for dinner. I, of course, had my favorite fettuccine alfredo. Yummy!!

Time out!!
No, that's not a picture of one of my kids in time out. But, when I put them in time out, you'd think that's what I was doing sometimes by the way they love it. When the girls are crying for no reason and won't stop, we take them to time out. We also do time out for hitting, pushing, etc., but the crying is the main reason for time out at our house lately. Anyway, whenever one of the girls screams, the other one will say, "No screaming!" Well, today Brooklyn was screaming, and Hannah said, "No screaming! You need time out?" (lol) Oh, the things my kids pick up on.

Greg is doing well in Georgia. He has class tomorrow (Saturday) and he's off Sunday. Then, they have class Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday, with a test on Wednesday. Thursday, they shoot in the morning and graduate in the afternoon. I'll be picking him up a week from today from the airport. Yay!! I won't be a single mom again until next week. The week after he comes home from Georgia, he has to go to Las Vegas on Wednesday, but he'll be back on Thursday. :( Hopefully this will be the last trip for a while.

Do Brooklyn and Hannah look more like Mommy or Daddy?

According to our "Look-Alike Meters," they both look equally like mom and dad. I don't necessarily agree. What do you all think? Just a little something fun for today.

Geez, Louise! Sit down, clown!

This morning, as I was making a gourmet breakfast (frozen waffles, toasted, of course), Hannah decided to stand up on her booster seat. I sternly said, "You need to sit down now!" She, of course, ignored me and continued standing there. All of a sudden, Brooklyn yells, "Sit down, clown!" I was laughing so hard! I can't imagine where she would have gotten that phrase. (Okay, maybe I've said it once or twice.) Boy, they sure catch every word we say these days.

So, speaking of clowns, I have a bit of coulraphobia. Coulraphobia is the fear of clowns. I believe that my fear of clowns can be traced back to the clown at the right. Do you recognize it? Yes, that's right. It's the clown from Poltergeist.

Oh, I know you remember the part. You know, after the poltergeist came into their house and took the little girl away, and all the furniture was flying around her room. Then, her parents went into her room to search for her in all the rubble, and they were afraid she had been crushed by her bed. But, when they pulled back all the debris they found their daughter's clown doll. They were relieved that it wasn't their daughter under there. I was quite alarmed by the freaky deaky clown they found. I've never really liked clowns since.

Later today, my girls were playing and talking together. Brooklyn must have done something that Hannah didn't like because all of a sudden, I heard Hannah say, "Geez, Louise!" Again, I can't imagine where she would have picked that up. I just had to laugh.

The girls and I went to Mandee and Jamie's house today. Hannah, Brooklyn, and Avery had a fun time playing together. They were jumping on the trampoline in their basement and having a great time. Mandee and I couldn't stop laughing because the girls' hair was so full of static that it was sticking straight out. After playing so hard over there, my girls just crashed at bedtime. Thanks for the play date Mandee, Avery, and Haden.

Ah, I feel like a new woman!

Ah, I waxed my eyebrows yesterday. I feel like a new woman. I know that sounds kinda silly, but it's my little bit of pampering. I just do it myself with Sally Hansen Wax Strips. They work great. I highly recommend them if you haven't tried them. You can get them at your local Wal-Mart. I've included a picture of the wax strips so you know what to look for. I've also included a picture of a Wal-Mart in case you haven't seen one of those before. (lol) The other plus side to waxing my eyebrows is that I look a little less like this:

Speaking of Wal-Mart, that's where I buy most of my groceries these days because they're so much cheaper than everywhere else. And, these days, I buy a lot of baking supplies because I really enjoy baking. Yesterday, I made some roll dough and took it to my parents' house and made homemade cinnamon rolls. They were sooooo yummy. There's not much better than warm cinnamon rolls with frosting melting down the sides of them. Mmmmmmmmm. I better not make them too much, though, or else I'll have some rolls of my own. (lol)
My parents and Bree, Jay and the kids just got back from their Disneyland trip. I'm so glad they're all back. I missed them while they were gone. I'm used to talking to Bree everyday, and I started having some withdrawals. And, I'm used to seeing my mom and dad at least once a week, so it was hard not seeing them for a while. Plus, with Greg being gone for 2 weeks, it will be nice having them all here. Welcome back, guys!

They look so sweet when they're sleeping.

Aw. Don't kids just look so cute and angelic when they're sleeping? When my girls are asleep, I just can't resist going in their room and peeking in on them.

Well, the other day after the girls played at Arctic Circle, they were uber tired. I brought them home, and took off their ice cream covered shirts, and sat them on the couch with their blankets to watch a movie. Obviously, I didn't get a chance to wipe their faces, but this is how I found them a few minutes into the movie.

I love this picture. They were both so sound asleep.

Well, Greg left for Georgia today. He will be gone for two weeks. :( There are some positives to his being gone, though. For one, I don't have to cook much if I don't want to. (LOL) I can watch any shows I want and have full reign of the remote control. Woo hoo!! I won't have as much laundry over the next couple weeks. Plus, my bathrooms will stay cleaner. ;) But, the down side is that the girls and I will be missing him while he's gone. Good luck in Georgia, Greg!
